After thorough analysis of the website and shop functions, we decided to go for a combination of old and new modules for Berlin Boombox. We kept the Drupal website running as it was – saving time and real money, i.e. for the training costs a new system would have required – and replaced the Wordpress module with an effective Magento tool. Smooth integration with the website was our main objective. After a short period of development the new shop system was launched providing a lot of direct advantages.
The new Magento system fully automates key e-commerce functions such as keeping record of payments, or communicating new orders to the inventory. Every-day handling of mailing costs, varying by country of destination, exports to third party retailers, and promotion codes now runs smoothly. The new system is easy to use, offers better service to customers and has also helped to optimize internal operational procedure.
The project has shown that it’s not always necessary to create a unique system to meet all of your customers needs. The user only sees the entirety of the page and doesn’t even notice the integration of Drupal and Magento. Underneath, both systems work their strengths, creating a low-maintenance webpage and an efficient online shop. The time and money saved by not having to build a whole new page from scratch leaves Berlin Boombox more room for investment in the product itself or for optimizing their online presence in the future.
